Vintage handmade pieced cotton quilt top, dating approximately to the 1940s–1950s
Measures approximately 86” x 70”
Features a striking repeating eight-point star / Blazing Star variation arranged across a crisp white ground
Each star is individually pieced from colorful vintage cotton prints, creating a wonderful scrappy assortment while maintaining a clean, graphic overall design
Fabrics include small-scale florals, polka dots and geometric prints in shades of blue, aqua, red, pink, green, yellow, lavender, brown and black
Entirely hand-pieced with visible hand stitching and seam allowances on the reverse
The numerous diamond-shaped pieces and intersecting points required a considerable amount of time and skill to assemble
This is an unfinished quilt top only and has never been completed with batting, backing or quilting
Raw edges, exposed seam allowances and occasional loose threads are expected as part of its unfinished construction
Wonderful as a textile collectible, displayed over a quilt rack or ladder, or ready to be completed into a full quilt
Overall very nice vintage condition
There is one light age-related stain near the center, shown in the photographs
Minor irregularities in stitching, piecing and edges are consistent with a handmade vintage textile
