We cut them to size, removed any loose chippy paint, sanded the tops, and sealed the remaining paint with a clear water based polyurethane in a matte finish.
Most of the risers have chippy paint on one side and are paint free on the other.You can imagine which side faced the elements for the past 200 years.(See photos for views of each side)
Each riser is approximately 4” tall and 8” in diameter. But there is some variation due to the columns being slightly tapered.
Most have a 2” hole in the center. Some have an additional 1” hole.
These make the perfect surface to display your treasures on, to create a vignette with, or to top with a cloche.
